Presents at the MCANJ September Membership Meeting
MCANJ’s guest speaker at the September 211 meeting, held at LaGriglia, Restaurant in Kenilworth. NJ, was Dave Keane. Mr. Keane has over 18 years of mechanical and process piping experience for industrial, pharmaceutical and institutional projects. He works for 5.y.a.2&… an NICAA national manufacturer and supplier council firm that provides technology products, training and implementation support for mechanical contractors.
Mr. Keane discussed construction technology trends, the impact of the newly released National BIM Standard and how mechanical contractors can prepare for it without sacrificing sound pipe fabrication and installation methods. He presentation also covered methods and benefits to include submittal and maintenance data in your building models to separate yourself from other bidders and earn the building service contract after construction is complete.
In addition, topics for discussion were evaluating which technologies are “safe and proven”, building a step wise plan for integrating new technologies, profitability impact of virtual construction and prefabrication. Trimble layout in the field. 3D laser scanning and ensuring profitability by establishing accountability for technology utilization in your company.
The informative presentation was well received by all.
